In 2017, I graduated from college, went home to my province, lived with my parents, and immediately took over our family business. As a manager in our gasoline station and car service center, my responsibilities would include general administration and administrative support, along with a bit of marketing. The mere fact that I am living with my parents means I am in my comfort zone. I don't wake up thinking about paying bills, what to eat, or any other expenses because I rely on my parents' money for all of my wants, especially financial ones. So I heard my friends and colleagues talking about personal virtual assistant jobs and freelancing. They would all make it sound so easy. I immediately took an interest in it since I am also fond of computers. I took a cheap online course, thinking it would all just fall into place overnight, and I left our family business, moved out of my parents' home, and moved in with my fiancé in another city.

Applying as a Personal Virtual Assistant

In the following months, I was very motivated and excited to land a job as a virtual assistant. I asked my friends and coworkers for recommendations on where I could apply for one. Eventually, I found this freelancing company and then I applied to them, but that's when my dilemma started because I, for once, had never experienced an interview. After months of being shortlisted by the company that I'm applying for, I was able to proceed to the next process, but at that point, I was already doubting myself and experiencing the "Big Dip," as they say. Thankfully, my fiancé is always there to support me and I was able to get back on track. I was hired by the company around September 2021, and another obstacle came to me, which was finding a client from the freelancing company. Most of the tasks that the clients needed were not familiar to me, and I realized that I still needed to invest in myself and gain more experience to be able to handle the clients' tasks correctly.

Personal Virtual Assistant in Training

As the month's pass, no matter how many YouTube videos I watch, I still feel the need to apply what I learn from the videos, but how? I still couldn't get a client, or maybe I'm not competitive enough because I don't know how to interact or sell myself. So then I decided to enroll in an online course, but the process of finding the right coach to guide your career is another challenge. I wanted to create a portfolio for myself to be able to share it with my prospective clients since most of them prefer experienced general virtual assistants. So I closely looked for one, joined groups on Facebook, and found Surge Digital Agency. I checked the testimonials of their former students and thoroughly checked their website and said to myself, "This can guide me with my career." I immediately enrolled in one of their online courses, and right there and then, it helped me optimize things and taught us how to position ourselves. Basically, it equipped us with the skills needed to be able to compete in this industry.

LL Virtual Services as your Personal Virtual Assistant

One of the very first things that the course taught us, together with our coach, was how to create our very own brand centered around our niches. Right after creating our branding, we were also tasked with optimizing our profiles on these freelancing sites, Upwork and Online Jobs Ph, as well as our social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn), which included creating content and keyword aligning it to the services that we can offer as a virtual assistant to make them more visible and attractive to potential clients or customers. As we go deeper into our courses, we'll be learning more about WEBSITE TASKS, ONLINE WRITING, MARKETING, SEO, SOCIAL MEDIA BASICS, and many more!

So what are you waiting for? With all of this relevant and excellent training, it's time to consider the following critical question: should you hire a virtual assistant?
