In 2017, I graduated from college, went home to my province, lived with my parents, and immediately took over our family business. As a manager in our gasoline station and car service center, my responsibilities would include general administration and administrative support, along with a bit of marketing. I took a cheap online course, thinking it would all just fall into place overnight, and I left our family business, moved out of my parents' home, and moved in with my fiancé in another city.

In the following months, I was very motivated and excited to land a job as a virtual assistant. I asked my friends and coworkers for recommendations on where I could apply for one. Eventually, I found this freelancing company and then I applied to them, but that's when my dilemma started because I, for once, had never experienced an interview. After months of being shortlisted by the company that I'm applying for, I was able to proceed to the next process, but at that point, I was already doubting myself and experiencing the "Big Dip," as they say. Thankfully, my fiancé is always there to support me and I was able to get back on track. I was hired by the company around September 2021, and another obstacle came to me, which was finding a client from the freelancing company. I wanted to create a portfolio for myself to be able to share it with my prospective clients since most of them prefer experienced general virtual assistants.
